3 Day Juice Cleanse? Day One...

Yesterday, I decided that I would embark on a 3-day juice cleanse (sort of) starting today.  I've committed to drinking nothing but fruit/vegetable juice plus the occasional nut milk for at least three days, but I may juice for longer if I feel good on day three.

Day 1

Today, I had five juices + a cashew milk

  • Breakfast: green juice
  • Snack: pineapple, apple, mint
  • Lunch: green juice
  • Snack: beet, cucumber, carrot, apple
  • Dinner: carrot, apple, ginger
  • Snack: cashew milk, cinnamon, vanilla, agave nectar
I felt pretty satisfied after my dinner drink but decided to have the cashew milk a couple of hours later, and it was delish!  I could have done without it, but my cashew milk is three days old, and I want to finish it before it goes bad.  Hey, no judging!  Have you seen the price of raw, organic cashews?

I expected to feel hungry today, but I didn't - not once.  A lot of folks who've completed a juice cleanse said that they felt fine on day 1, but days 2-4 were a nightmare.  I'll just have to wait and see how tomorrow goes...

A Clean New Me

Clean eating and living are relatively new to me.  At the recommendation of a colleague, I read a book entitled Clean: The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body's Natural Ability to Heal Itself by Alejando Junger.

I learned about all the benefits of clean eating.  I read other peoples' accounts of their own dietary transformations and results.  I, too, wanted to sleep like a baby!  I, too, wanted clearer, more radiant skin!  I, too, wanted to poop like a champ!  But most importantly, I wanted to do something good for myself, something that would make me feel happy and proud every single day.

So, I embarked on a 21-day cleanse, and it was life changing.  I immediately felt as though I was part of a special club, one where members only consumed organic, life-giving foods.  While at the grocery store, random people, or "club members", would strike up conversations as I shopped for almond milk and kale.  That had never happened to me before now.

By the end of my cleanse, my skin did get clearer, my eyelashes fuller and longer, my waistline smaller and my random pains eradicated.  My energy soared through the roof.  I was suddenly motivated to complete tasks that I'd been putting off for months.  I could go on and on about the great things that happened to me, but I won't.

I am 19 days post-cleanse and still eating clean.  The purpose of this blog is to share my learnings, excitement and experiences as I continue on my clean journey!
